Layer, Block, Group, Print

Exercise greater layer control with the Layer Palette for all your layer commands within a single, accessible interface. The transition from a dialog box to a versatile palette not only enhances the visual workspace but also promotes efficiency. Now, you can efficiently manage your layers without interruption. This means that you can focus on your drawing, making adjustments to layers, and organizing your project, all while keeping your drawing in view.

Spline Editing with Fit and Control Vertices

A Spline is a smooth curve that is fit to a set of points. You can create a non-uniform rational B-spline or NURBS curve for any number of fit points. You can also fit the Spline to the specified points within a specified tolerance value.

Hatch Fill and Gradient

The Hatch and Fill features in DraftSight allow components of your drawing to be clearly defined by filling in your entities with line patterns, color or designs of your choice. Additionally giving you the ability to control the angle and scale of your patterns while linking it to a specific layer of your selection.

View Navigator

Navigate standard views and isometric views with ease by using the newly introduced View navigator in DraftSight 2024. Experience reduced eyestrain and enhanced feature visibility with the default Dark mode interface.

Toolbox

BOM, Revision Table, Hardware, Holes, Welding/Surface/Finish Symbols…

Design Resources Library

Use the DesignResources command to access resources and contents from other drawings on your computer or network places to which you are connected. You can employ and import Blocks, Reference drawings, Layers, LineStyles, DimensionStyles, TextStyles, TableStyles, and layout Sheets into the current drawing.

Batch Printing

Load multiple drawing files and select the sheets you’d like to print, with the ability to print sheets from multiple files simultaneously, saving you valuable time throughout your drafting process.

Tool Palettes

Streamline the process of creating drawings and maintain uniformity. Access all your frequently utilized commands and functions conveniently in a single location.

Merge Layer

Use the MergeLayer command to merge Layers to a destination Layer. You can specify the source Layers and the destination Layer by names in a dialog box or by specifying them in the graphics area. You can also merge Layers using the Layers Manager.

Drawing Compare

Compare drawing revisions to quickly identify and track changes. Draw Compare will graphically depict differences between drawings or show entities that have been added or removed in the color of your choice.

Pattern (Linear, Polar, Path)

Use the Pattern command to create copies of specified entities in a circular pattern or in a linear matrix. The copied entities inherit all properties of the original entities such as Layers, LineColors, LineStyles, and LineWeights.

Automatic Dimensioning & Dimension Arrangement

Use the AutoDimension command to dimension drawings automatically. Create baseline, continued, and ordinate dimensions for specified entries that are enclosed within a Dimension Bounding Box.

Dimension Palette

The dimension palette appears when you insert a dimension or when you select a dimension to change the properties and format of the dimension text. Using the dimension palette, you can change the tolerance, precision, and formatting of dimensions without going to the Properties palette. You can reuse format settings for other dimensions, such as reference dimensions or tolerances.

Mass Properties Calculations

Mass properties include: mass, volume, bounding box, centroid, moments of inertia, products of inertia, radii of gyration, and principal moments and X-Y-Z directions about the centroid.

Quick Input Methods

Quick Input provides a command entry interface near the pointer, so you can keep focus on geometry. The main elements of quick input are the tooltips near the pointer, which act as inputs for coordinates, distances, lengths, angels, and more. When you move the pointer, the tooltips track coordinate positions, lengths, angles, and so on.

Using Formulas in Table Cells

Use formulas in cells with arithmetic operators and the Sum, Average, and Count.

Viewport Layer Freezing

When a Layer is frozen, it is protected and invisible.

Block Attribute Manager

Manage the attributes of blocks within a DraftSight drawing, with options to change Text Settings and Properties. It's a quick and easy method to change all block attributes.

G-Code Generator

DraftSight's G-Code Generator creates machine-readable G-code for CNC machines. Save time and effort converting your 2D drawing entities to G-Code (.txt) files with the automated machine tools inside of DraftSight. CNC programmer software. Professional G-code editor.

Power Trim

PowerTrim cuts to the chase by assuming everything is a cutting edge from the get-go. Just start the PowerTrim command and drag your cursor over the entities you want to trim. That’s it! No more selecting cutting edges, you just start trimming.

Image Tracer

DraftSight’s Image Tracer allows designers to automatically convert raster images - BMP, PNG, PDF, and JPG formats into vector graphics, creating accurate and editable lines and curves in DWG files. Save time and effort manually retrieving and editing image elements.

Pack and Go

Package all references with a master drawing for easier sharing.

Publish to DWF format

Publish DWF to communicate with those who do not have DWG editors.

Create & Edit Custom Blocks

Create Custom Blocks to accommodate multiple variations in a single block.

Sheet Set Manager

The Sheet Set Manager palette groups the functionalities for creating, organizing, and managing drawing sheets within a drawing sheet set.

3D Tools

DraftSight Premium and DraftSight Enterprise Plus include the 3D Modeling Workspace, where you can access the all-in-one 2D drafting and 3D design experience. Access a full suite of powerful 3D modeling and editing tools. Create predefined 3D solids, such as Boxes, Cones, Cylinders, and Spheres. Make Faces and Meshes or transform 2D shapes into 3D solids to use for 3D printing, laser cutting, or in other Dassault Systèmes solutions and services.

Constraints

Ensure geometric relationships and respect your design intent by utilizing the power of 2D parametric constraints such as Geometric and Dimensional Constraints.

Create, edit Bill of Materials (BOMs)

The BOM aggregates all part references for the drawing. Create new and update existing BOMs that detail properties of the components such as part number and quantity. The parts list is a visual table on the drawing that allows you to organize the BOM to your liking to complete your drawing.

Edit and create part references

Part references add intelligence to 2D entities so they will be treated as a separate part for bill of material tracking. Make or update existing part properties such as number, description, vendor, etc. Save time and work from a robust hardware library. Existing part references can be modified and new ones are automatically created when using the hardware library or can be created for user defined blocks.

Insert part reference Balloon annotations

Annotate and add notes to your drawings by creating or reorganizing balloons associated to a parts list. The balloons feature is supporting part references so you can use it both for content previously created with your legacy mechanical system and with DraftSight Mechanical.

Support for ANSI, ISO, Din, JIS, BSI drafting standards

DraftSight makes it easy to comply with national, industrial, or company Standards. In addition to the predefined ASME, ISO, DIN, JIS, GB, and GOST standard templates, you can create a drawing that has all your proper Layers, Linetype, Text, and Dimension Styles. Save it as a Drawing Standards file (.dws) and, apply your Standards File to your drawing. Let DraftSight check your standards as you work or check them manually.
