SOLIDWORKS MBD Course Overview

The SOLIDWORKS MBD (Model Based Definition) course is designed to teach participants how to use SOLIDWORKS MBD to communicate product and manufacturing information (PMI) directly in 3D formats. This approach eliminates the need for separate 2D drawing files by enabling users to represent PMI directly within a 3D model and publish this information to 3D PDF, eDrawings, or STEP 242 file formats.

This course aims to equip users with the necessary skills and concepts to successfully utilize SOLIDWORKS MBD, enhancing efficiency and clarity in the design-to-manufacturing process.

Skills Learned:

  • Understand the fundamentals of SOLIDWORKS MBD and its application in communicating PMI in 3D formats.
  • Learn to use DimXpert and annotation views for detailing parts with intelligent dimensions and notes.
  • Capture 3D annotation views and publish PMI to neutral file formats including 3D PDF, eDrawings, and STEP 242
  • Gain skills in managing configurations to capture various stages of parts, such as cast and machined configurations.
  • Master auto dimensioning schemes to define datums and automatically add all necessary dimensions in seconds.
