SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard Course Overview

The SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard course is designed to introduce participants to the integrated CAM functionality within SOLIDWORKS, focusing on streamlining the workflow from CAD design to CAM toolpath generation and NC code creation. This course covers the methodology of dynamically updating toolpaths with CAD changes, virtual toolpath simulation, toolpath creation within SOLIDWORKS CAD, custom tool creation, feed and speed automation or manual definition, machining database customization, and feature recognition for automatic toolpath, feed, and speed determination.

Skills Learned:

  • Streamlined Workflow: Learn to generate toolpaths and NC code directly from SOLIDWORKS CAD models, with dynamic updates reflecting CAD changes.
  • Virtual Toolpath Simulation: Virtually simulate the toolpath to identify potential issues before actual machining.
  • Toolpath Creation: Create efficient toolpaths within the SOLIDWORKS environment, leveraging the software's integrated CAM capabilities.
  • Custom Tool Creation: Add custom tools to the extensive library provided by SOLIDWORKS CAM for specialized machining operations.
  • Feed and Speed Automation: Automate or manually define the feed and speed of machining operations to optimize cutting conditions.
  • Machining Database Customization: Expand the machining database with custom operations and strategies for more efficient machining.
  • Feature Recognition: Utilize CAM's ability to recognize various feature types automatically to determine the most appropriate toolpath, feed, and speed settings.
